Lead Capture Pages (aka Landing Pages) and Follow-up Campaigns Tips

If you’ve done any research with regards to how to create an email list, then you’ve probably heard of something that is known as a landing page. Other names for the landing page are opt-in page and squeeze page. All of these names are used interchangeably, and they all refer to the same meaning and purpose.

In a nutshell, a landing page is a web page that allows a marketer to capture new subscribers’ first name and email information. This is how email lists are built. The purpose of a marketer who is building an email list, is to alert subscribers of any new information that has been posted, as well as any new products or services being offered, plus to keep subscribers informed of industry news, tips and other helpful info.

If you are interested in creating a landing page, here are some things to keep in mind.

1. Make the opt-in box prominent. Don’t make people play hide and seek to find a box to put their email address information into. If you put it right at the top, then the purpose is clear. Having said that, make sure that you have engaging text around the opt in box. The text should be short and to the point, and it should be inviting and entice a person to want to sign up to your subscription list.

2. Offer them something special. What a lot of the marketers do is reward people for signing up on their opt- in lists. For example, you can offer your subscribers a special report. You can offer them a free ebook. People love the word ‘free’ and when you’re giving them anything for free, even if it’s a free link to a website, they will be forever grateful, and they will stick by you to because you cared enough about them to meet their needs for free.

3. Make sure that you’re meeting their needs in one way or the other. When you get people to subscribe to your website, keep in mind that people are either looking for something, or they want to solve a problem. You’ll be sure to have as many subscribers as you wish if you can handle one of these issues, or preferably both.

All of these efforts and a good many more can bring interested people to your lead capture page where they will enter their information and help you build your list.

So, you’ve decided to listen to all of the advice and you’ve decided to create a video for marketing purposes. Congratulations on your decision! But before you go rushing off with that video recorder, here are some things to keep in mind so that you don’t shoot yourself in the foot before you’ve begun a successful marketing campaign.

1. Keep in mind that especially if you’re just starting out, people don’t know you. It might seem that some websites like YouTube enable people to become Internet superstars overnight. In the case of creating informational articles for marketing purposes, no one will know who you are at first and sadly, they might not even care. You’ll learn how to make them care, but you don’t want to bang them over the head with information at first. You also don’t want to come across like the person that is talking simply to hear themselves talk. What you do want to do is grab their attention with lots of concise and attention grabbing information. This is what’s going to make them want to come back for more.

2. Here are some things to keep in mind to create attention and interest for your new video venture. First off, just because you’re a beginner doesn’t mean you have to look like a beginner. Make sure that you have good lighting, and that you aren’t sitting in a dark corner of your room. Also, don’t create a video that looks like you are simply talking to your camcorder. It would be a good idea to wear a decent shirt, or to wear something that speaks of being a person that is trustworthy. Videos are a form of advertising, and people will absolutely judge you by your looks. Make sure you create an atmosphere and that you are a person on video that creates not only interests, but also trust.

3. Don’t just stop at YouTube. Did you know that there’s hundreds of video sharing websites online? Now that you know this, you need to make it your business to find them, and get your video out there to as many of these video websites as possible. Again, you’re not going to be at the number one spot on YouTube when you’re first starting out. This is why you need to cast a wide net, especially at first.
