Today, English Premier League football-club Swansea City completed the loan signing of Portuguese midfielder Renato Sanches from German club Bayern Munich.
20-year old Sanches won the Golden Boy award last year, but has struggled for form since joining Bayern Munich for £27.5 million from Portuguese side Benfica. He was part of the squad which claimed the Bundesliga title last season but played only 600 minutes for the campaign, amassing a total of 26 appearances.
Sanches will arrive at Swansea after the international break where he will be re-united with manager Paul Clement, who was previously the assistant manager at Bayern Munich. The club have reportedly paid a fee £8 million to sign him for the season, with the deal not including an option to purchase. The player was previously linked with a move to Italian Serie A trio, A.C. Milan, Juventus and A.S. Roma, as well as French capital-club Paris Saint-Germain and England’s Liverpool FC.
Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge expressed his satisfaction at Sanches’ loan to Swansea, saying, “We’re delighted we’ve been able to conclude the load deal with Swansea City. Our goal was for Renato to gain regular match practice at club level in a strong league such as the Premier League”.
